I LOVE mason jars

A girl can never have too many mason jars! The possibilities with them are endless, and right now I am running low on them because being the kind sweet and generous sister that I am...(don't laugh, OK you can laugh), I gave a bunch to my brother for his wedding.(He's worth it!) Before you think who would want mason jars at their wedding? Take a look at some of the pictures below.

Now you see why I LOVE mason jars!

Mad Scientist Cake

We recently attended my youngest son's Blue and Gold Banquet for his cub scout troop. All the families were asked to bring a dessert for this years theme which was Mad Scientist Concoction. So in typical Rodriguez fashion, "let's do this!" We searched the web for inspiration and this is what we came up with;

As always, things didn't turn out the way they were supposed to. I had to make multiple trip to the store to try and fix things but overall we were all pleased with the out come.

The hands were made out of fondant by my 12 year old.

The bubbling potion is rice crispy marshmallow treat, but instead of rice crispies we used Captain Crunch Berry.

The pouring potion is wire covered in fondant.

There were alot of great desserts there, here's a few of them;

Getting ready for Valentines Day

Here is what my younger boys decided to make as their Valentines Day favors.

Airplanes made out of Party blowers, gum, and mints

Kit Kat wrapped in construction paper and a pipe cleaner
"You're the bomb!

And of course I had to make a little something.

1 box strawberry cake mix

1 box white cake mix

Mixed both according to directions.

Then divided white cake mix into 2 part and added red food coloring to 1/2.

So now I have 3 colors; white, red and pink(strawberry)

Scooped batter into pan to give it a more layered look and swirled it together.

Baked according to package.

Yummy!

Organizing Measuring Cups and Spoons

My measuring cups and spoons are never where they should be thanks to all the young aspiring chef's in my house. So when I saw a picture on infarrantlycreative.net where she hung her cups and spoons on her cabinets doors, I knew I had to give it a try.

My inspiration @ infarrantlycreative.net

Paint stick that I cut the ends off and sanded, then spray painted.
I painted 2 stick but ended up only using 1.

Before

After

As you can see the picture I made mine a little different than my inspiration photo.

I only used 1 paint stick for the measuring spoons and I hung the measuring cups with the 3m removable command hooks.

Also I hung my paint strip with command strips- no drilling here!

Luckily the paint stick wood is very soft and was able to twist the hooks in by hand.

This project was very cheap to make:
Paint stick- free
Hooks $.99
Command strips- $2.80
Spray Paint$1.00

Superbowl Sunday

This Sunday is Superbowl Sunday and my boys wanted to have a party. Unfortunately my Hubby has to work, so we will probably just have some family over. Honestly I could careless about the game. Don't get me wrong, I like football. But I am the type of girl who would rather play the game than watch. However, I love a good excuse to have family and friends over. Not to mention all the yummy food we will have. One things my boys have decided is a must have is chicken wings. I have never made chicken wings before so this will be a new adventure for me. I haven't decided what else we are going to have but here are a few thing that might be good:

Unique plant holders

There are a ton of creative ways to use ordinary objects as planters. I love it when people think out side of the box!
